Community speedwatch volunteers needed
The Town Council is setting up a Community Speedwatch group to help monitor and reduce incidents of speeding in the Town, and we need your help!

Youth Club Pre-School
It’s 4 in a row for Youth Club Pre-School
Newport Pagnell Youth Club Pre-School are celebrating after receiving their latest Ofsted report.
The Ofsted Inspector visited the Pre-School on Thursday 17th July where they maintained their ‘Outstanding’ rating for the fourth time in a row.
The report stated that the staff are highly qualified and experienced and are united in their commitment to provide children with the very best care possible.
The children are encouraged to be active and healthy and their behaviour is consistently excellent because there is a reliable and familiar routine with clear rules and expectations which makes a wonderfully welcoming environment.
Parents reflected on how the pre-school has been transformative for their children and say they have flourished in their development.
The inspector found that the children acquire important skills that they need before they move on to school and that provide them with good foundations for their future learning.

We have 5 x 10 mile cultural trails, each with a short cut half way if you only fancy doing 5 miles – Cultural Routes – Milton Keynes
The millennium route is a lovely 12 miler around MK – which has wayfinding around the entire route.
All of the routes are shown on our interactive map Interactive Map – Milton Keynes – use the map filter to choose the route you want to view.
The routes are also available on our Get Around MK App – go to ‘nearby’ map, choose ‘Get Cycling’ and then swipe along to pick layers and routes. Allow the App to use your GPS and you can see where you are on the route. The app is free to download on Google Play or the Apple Store.
We are started our Get Around MK Guided Rides on Sunday 14 May Get Cycling MK Guided Rides – Milton Keynes most of our rides depart from a Santander Cycles MK docking station – rides are between 5 – 10 miles. Every Sunday until end August. They are open to all, beginners and family, nobody gets left behind and they ride at the pace of the slowest rider.
Also – we are running a behaviour change campaign to get more people walking and cycling (any form of active and sustainable transport) Get Around Rewards – BetterPoints – Milton Keynes. You may have heard of it before – BetterPoints. The way it works is – simply download the App; walk wheel cycle or scoot and the App recognises the activity and rewards you with either points that can be redeemed for goods at local retailers, or tickets, which puts you in to prize draws. Currently it is Bike Week and there is an opportunity to win an electric folding bike, to enter the prize draw just need to download the Betterpoints app, join Get Around Rewards and answer the survey.

Please help the environment by putting your food waste into your green bins. Only 25% of food waste goes into green bins, and you can put 100% of your food waste into this bin, whether it is cooked or not.
You can also put in lawn mowings, leaves weeds, dead flowers, windfall fruit and branches up to 15 cm diameter into your green bin as well as your food waste.

EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILDCARE
Milton Keynes Council is call on all parents of a two year old to find out if they qualify for up to 15 hours of free early education and childcare a week, as part of their “Time for Twos” campaign.

Remember that thieves are opportunists and that many burglaries can be prevented.
- Ensure that you keep doors and windows locked
- Remove all keys from the locks and keep them in a safe place out of view
- Keep garden furniture, ladders and wheelie bins in a secure garage or shed or locked up away from the house. So they can’t be used to climb onto a roof or access a first floor window.
- If you are going away ask someone to keep an eye on your property and remove any tell tale signs that you are away.

ALL IN 1 CARD
The card offers under 19’s in Milton Keynes the opportunity to travel on public transport at a discounted rate. With the All in 1 Card, children and young people can travel on local buses for as little as 35p per journey with the Junior Tripper ticket (£3.50 for 10 journeys).
Anyone who is a MK resident can get an ALL in 1 Card as long as they are under 19 years old. The card also allows the holder to get discounts off various shops in the area as well.

NEWPORT PAGNELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Newport Pagnell Historical Society was founded in 1984 by a small group interested in the buildings and people of the town and surrounding area and concerned in preserving the past for the future. By the 1990’s the thriving society, by its own fund raising efforts and with the generous help of the Harry Middleton Gift, was able to purchase and refurbish Chandos Hall and open it both as a Museum and the Society’s headquarters. The Society currently has around 150 members who meet twice a month and is active in many aspects of the town and further afield including the preservation of historical buildings many of which have been sadly lost in the past.
